Daniel Vinson

 Daniel A. Vinson, Ed. D. was born on March 2, 1947 in Alameda, Ca, and died on October 11, 2009. He was the husband of 40 years to Sara Jane with whom he enjoyed vacationing at their cabin in Twain Harte, and traveling to Europe and Mexico. Gardening and walking outdoors gave him great joy but he most enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter Alison and son-in-law Cory Gaconnet, MD, and their two children, Madeline and Noah and his son Andrew and daughter-in-law Robin and their daughter Avery. He also leaves a brother Timothy and Nancy Vinson; sister-in-law Vickie and John Woolery; a nephew William Woolery. Daniel received his BA in Education at California State University, Chico; his MA in Education at San Jose State University, and Doctorate of Education at the University of San Francisco. He recently retired as Superintendent of the Woodside School District. Previously he served as Superintendent of Rancho Santa Fe School District. He held multiple positions over the 22 years he spent at the Mountain View School District, including Principal of Graham Middle School, Director of Personal and Special Education, and Assistant Superintendent. Prior, he served as the Principal of Loma Prieta Middle School as well as a teacher, counselor, and principal in the Berryessa School District. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at a memorial service to be held on Monday, October 19th at 3:00 PM, Saratoga Federated Church, 20390 Park Place, Saratoga (408-867-1000).
