I deeply regret to inform you of the passing of Anthony Torquemada, a 1965 graduate of Sunset High. He is survived by his devoted wife Sandy (Caviglia), three beautiful daughters, Kimberly, Tiffany, and Jennifer he was so proud of his girls. He also had nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews whom all adored him. Anthony was a Vietnam vet and awarded the Bronze Star. He was a teamster for 40+ years. He was an amazing man living with cancer surviving much longer than he was told. I believe that was partially because of the loving care of his soulmate Sandy. I can honestly say that Sandy and Anthony had one of the most beautiful marriages I’ve ever seen. They were meant to be together forever. This has been very heartbreaking for Sandy. Please pray for her and the family. They have such a beautiful family of loving people. Wayne took me and my family in March to visit Sandy and Anthony in Temecula where they have lived for the last couple of years. I feel blessed to have been able to be a part of their beautiful wedding on 4-19-1969. What a beautiful day that was! Sandy and I are amazed how many years we’ve been friends, almost 69 years! We met in first grade and were inseparable. Wayne and Anthony were best friends in middle school, and little did they know they were actually cousins. Both families were originally from Spain and Anthony’s father would call Wayne Primo (cousin) so Sandy and I had t-shirts made for them that said Primo and they both wore them proudly during our visit. Anthony was born on 1-18-1947 and he passed away on 8-10-2022. He fought a very long and hard fight and we’re all so proud of the man he was. Anthony was a very cool guy when I knew him at Sunset. It doesn't surprise me at all that he won the Bronze Star for courage. That's how he rolled. I didn't know him well but I liked his spirit and presence, and every conversation we ever had. Good Man.
Dolores Arreguin (Cunha)
I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Anthony (Ants/Torque). We grew up living a block
away. I remember when he would walk by my house, and he would say, Dolores, we are going to
play baseball at Burkbank, Do you want to come? Of course, I was always ready, to play sports!!
We would spend all day playing. I always told my kids, it was a great time to grow up. Sandy and I were
Brownies, and Girl Scouts together. I am happy, that I was able to connect with both of them, earlier this year, although it was through texting, we were able to verbalize the fondness, that we all had for each other through those growing up years. They were so fortunate that they were able to spend all those wonderful years togother. I was not aware of his service in the military, but not surprised. He was always a Good Man,even at a young age. To Sandy, and the wonderful family and friends that surrounds her, my heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. It has been difficult, to put everything I am feeling right now.

Anthont was my neighbor and lived across the street from Joe Leon. When we attended Winton Jr high he played second base and I played first. Bob R. was the pitcher and Pauk McGill caught. George Gonzalos AKA Richie Allen played third.
He was drafted the day before me and went to Vetnam as a infantry man.I went to Korea as an MIlitaty Police man. We both returned around the same time and had a long discussion about the Army and War. He experienced some heavy combat and told me some stories.
He was the kind of guy that every guy wanted to be his friend and all the girls thought he was a handsome dude.

Anthony. . . . .such a kind, sweet, friendly, good looking man. When I was expecting my third child, the name Anthony came up; I thought of Anthony Torquemada. Remembering Anthony Tourq. I named my son Anthony remembering the one guy I knew with that name and his abundment qualities.
My Anthony wound up having the same qualities. Now they are both in heaven. May your memory be eternal Anthony.
For Sandy and her family I am so sorry and sad for you all. You are so blessed to have had such a wonderful life together.
