Joe's passion was truly serving the working people as a Union Representative. He had a forty year history in the labor movement and began his career at Mack Truck where he worked on the line. When the plant was closed he became a member of the plant closure project. He then went to work for Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees union where he began as a Union Rep and worked his way up to President of that Local. He then went to work for SEIU Local 250 as a representative for the Sacramento and the Central Valley Kaiser Permanente workers. For the last 13 years of his career representing the working people was spent at Engineers and Scientists for Local 20 again representing Kaiser and PG&E employees. He was a very direct individual who had a passion for a fight in both his work and personal life. He also had a love for gardening and fishing. In his spare time he enjoyed being at the ocean, reading and listening to music. He joined the Marines and served two tours in the Vietnam War.
