Richard Albert Converse
July 15, 1947 - May 22, 2011
Resident of Antioch
Richard died at home on Sunday May 22 from pancreatic cancer. He was born in Pierre, SD to Albert and Maybelle Converse. His family moved to California in 1951 and he attended schools in Hayward, where he graduated from Sunset High School, class of 1965. Rich was a proud 42 year member in good standing with IBEW affiliated with locals 595 and 302. He operated Converse Co., for the past 25 years. Rich was an active member in several fraternal organizations including Antioch/Brentwood Masonic Lodge, Aahmes Shrine Mounted Patrol and ROJ Court 6. He was an active part in the up keep of the 106 year old lodge building, as well as being Honored with the Hiram Award in 1998. Rich generously gave of his time and service to lift the spirits of children recovering at the Shriners Hospital by appearing with his pinto horse, Storm. In addition, the group appeared in many local parades as well as the Pasadena Rose Bowl Parade. His generosity and ability to fix anything will truly be missed by neighbors, friends and family. His beloved parents and in-laws, William G. and Aileen Tyler McCullough preceded him in death. Rich leaves his wife, Ann; Son Tyler Converse and wife Lorraine; granddaughters, Grace and Aileen of Lake Oswego, Oregon, his brother Vaughn and wife Gloria of Sparks, Nevada. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 2 at 11:00 at Oak View Memorial Park 2500 E. 18th St., Antioch, Ca. Reception will follow immediately at the Antioch Historical Society 1500 W. 4th St., Antioch.
